Directs all advertising functions across all platforms and all business development and marketing functions. Develops strategies to maximize sales resources and optimize revenue development including multi-platform product positioning and pricing for clients of all sizes. Ensures advertising and marketing meets the needs of businesses and enables them to grow their businesses. Meets with advertisers and potential advertisers regularly and develops strong relationships. Develops high-quality, customized presentations to targeted clients and segments to secure new revenue and grow existing relationships. Analyzes business performance (active accounts, churned business, pricing, advertiser packages, etc.) and adjusts strategies and initiatives to achieve revenue goals. Develops and executes the Desert Sun’s B2B strategy and increases brand awareness to improve positioning of the Desert Sun in the Palm Springs media market. Analyzes marketplace and competition to determine most effective pricing and sales strategies. Analyzes market conditions. Provides strategic digital sales direction for the company. Details: The Time Warner Cable Media Sales currently seeks a Marketing Generalist for our McAllen and Brownsville Markets. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.MAJOR FUNCTIONS: Creates, develops, distributes and maintains all aspects of creative, marketing and promotions related to: communications, brand and product presentations and tools for advertising sales. Use creative software and graphic design skills to conceptualize, design and create innovative, original and creative packages and sales pieces and custom presentations that promote key Time Warner Cable programming and other offerings, crucial in enabling sales staff to maximize sales. This includes assurance that design/logo standards are met, including color, usage, maintaining consistent image for all Media Sales materials utilized by the Media Sales staff, etc Develop, create, distribute and maintain electronic media kit and all related collateral materials (sales, research, mapping, market pieces, etc.). This includes presentation materials with research, promotions and/or other strategic elements. Conduct regular trainings for sales staff, educating them on tools and resources available that are instrumental in helping sales achieve budget goals. This includes the application and utilization of research and sales software, as well as the benefits of promotions use in advertising. Serve in a consultative role to sales managers and account executives in marketing the current cable and multi platform advertising packages. Work closely with Manager and Marketing staff to translate strategic direction, the marketing of our sales products and product development functions to include: coop, non-traditional revenue, using both internal and external resources. Utilize critical thinking skills, industry knowledge, and research to assess and identify client needsgeared to a small market set with local clientele. Use and understand secondary market research databases in order to create compelling presentations and sales sheets. Assists Ad Sales management/Sales Staff in analysis of competitive media, industry trends, and market intelligence. Assists AE’s and sales management by developing strategic presentations through appropriate research, analysis and interpretation. Responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual promotional revenue budget for Division. Develop and execute all phases of departmental and client promotions including: conceptualizing promotional ideas, developing proposals, working with local/regional/national suppliers in coordinating promotional collateral materials and make presentations with/without Account Executives. Manages and schedules client events offsite with Sales Staff to support client sales opportunities. Provides guidance in selecting and providing event options to Sales Staff and clients that best meet client needs. Assists Promotions Manager with requests for markets of responsibility and maintains relationships with network affiliates. Maintain and provide all necessary paperwork to include but not limited to affidavits of eligibility, necessary insurance requirements, legal and/or liability documents and proper safety precautions. Acquire promotional prizes/giveaways and handle barter agreements, orders and record keeping, if applicable. Provide Generalist Marketing Manager with monthly/quarterly promotional finance reports for their associated markets Any other duties as assigned by Generalist Marketing Manager. Manage the coordination of production of all in-house/out-of-house media promotional support (i.e., print ads, radio/TV commercials, P.O.P. and artwork) as it relates to promotions. Has extensive electronic contact with sales and support personnel, extensive contact with management on a project basis, occasional contact with vendors and suppliers. Works with sales support to ensure standards are maintained and distribution needs are met. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelors Degree in Marketing and/or Communications, Design preferred.Minimum 3+ years in electronic media advertising sales, preferably cable, and previous management experience preferred.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Strong working knowledge of MS Office. HTML,Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design, Flash and FrontPage familiarity helpful.Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects with multiple departments and vendors.High level of project planning, development and implementation.Ability to organize workflow.Must have strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to follow through on multiple tasks.Must be willing to travel.Knowledge of web page designs and HTML for internet/intranet developmentKnowledge of banner advertisement creation.
